"With a call to prioritize active investigations and ensure that they are carried out with the necessary quality, as well as to reinforce food production measures, attention to the people in the current stage and the confrontation with disorder and hoarding, the visit of the Provincial Defense Council (CDP) to the Matanzas, Cárdenas and Martí municipalities.
The tour is part of the follow-up to the control and confrontation measures against Covid-19 in the province, which these days is extreme security and vigilance in the face of the spread of the virus and its consequences.
In the Matanzas Este Defense Zone, Liván Izquierdo Alonso, president of the CDP, called for a reassessment of the composition of the support groups based on the population density of this nucleus, where most of the commercial establishments and services of the provincial head.
Food production, distribution and sale were also analyzed. In this sense, Mario Sabines Lorenzo, vice president of the CDP, urged meticulous work, by constituencies, with the aim of reaching each citizen and prioritizing vulnerable groups.
The call to order included establishing effective controls that guarantee the necessary isolation in the current stage, order in queues and timely information that contributes to raising the perception of risk.
“We are facing a disease that has claimed thousands of lives around the world for not having prepared health systems or for not complying with restrictive measures. The country is allocating large resources so that this does not happen, we have medical personnel and a large group of people working on behalf of the people, therefore, we have to make the population understand that being isolated and complying with regulations is not a game, it is a necessity ”, emphasized Sabines Lorenzo.
The Defense Council of that municipality reported that to date more than 70 fines have been implemented for those who have incurred in violation of the targeted regulations, including people who still pass by nosobucos on public roads.
Alexis Medel Avilés, head of the Health Subgroup of the Defense Council of the Matanzas Municipality, explained that the deliberate work of the investigations continues, where around 80 percent of the homes are visited by medical students and personnel assigned to these functions for the purpose to detect in time suspected cases of the new coronavirus.
On the subject, Ailuj Casanova Barreto, Provincial Director of Health, urged to better organize the task taking into account that the early detection of cases allows a much more favorable treatment for patients. The Cárdenas municipality was also analyzed during the CDP visit, a territory that, together with the Matanzas municipality, reports the highest number of confirmed cases in the province, and a high number of suspects. The epidemiological situation is today the priority of its leaders, who maintain close control to prevent the increase in infections.
The Provincial Director of Health explained that it is essential to investigate 100 percent of tourism and construction workers, maintain vigilance for those who remain in the household and not rule out any patient with respiratory symptoms who enters the health units in order to act on time, both in the treatment of positive cases to Covid-19, and in the determination and isolation of contacts.
"We have to use the press media available to this municipality to inform the population and help promote citizen awareness of the necessary compliance with the guidelines. The president of the CDP also made reference to the functions of the Defense Zones, the maximum responsible for guiding the indicated tasks. He valued food production, so far below the capabilities of that territory. He also stressed the need to sanction with all the rigor of the law to hoarders and to those who commit the crime of spreading the epidemic.

For his part José A. López Lugo, Provincial Chief of the Minint, warned about the possible proliferation of criminal acts in these circumstances, so he called for extreme order and the confrontation of illegalities.
However, as the CDP was able to verify, the full potential of the municipality has not yet been exploited and manifestations of indiscipline remain in the queues, so a greater vigilance was called from the community.
The president of the CDP was also interested in potato production due to the need to redouble efforts and produce more food.
The province of Matanzas remains among the highest risk at the national level, so taking extreme measures to ensure the health of citizens is a priority for the authorities. Sticking to directions and staying home are the most effective way to prevent the spread and spread of Covid-19.
